Am I On-Call? Will I Be Notified?
The two questions every responder asks before go-live
You do not need to configure schedules or escalation policies. You do need to know where to look, and to trust that notifications will reach you.
The questions responders actually ask
Am I on-call?
Who is on-call right now?
When does my rotation start and end?
Who is next?
Which team owns the response?
All of these are answered from the team's on-call view in JSM Operations. Schedule configuration belongs to administrators; visibility belongs to you.

How notifications reach you
Contact methods
Email, mobile push, SMS and voice may all be used, depending on how your organisation has configured response. Whatever the channel, the meaning is identical.
Escalation
If an alert is not acknowledged, escalation may bring additional responders in automatically. Recognise escalation when it happens; you do not configure it.
Key Concept 4
However the notification arrives, the response is the same: open the alert and take ownership.
Before cutover: verify your own setup
- Confirm email notifications
- Confirm phone number if applicable
- Confirm SMS where applicable
- Confirm voice where applicable
- Confirm mobile push
- Confirm Jira Cloud mobile access
- Review personal notification preferences
If notifications do not arrive
Check your personal notification preferences, contact methods, mobile configuration and current on-call status first. If everything looks correct, contact the appropriate JSM administrator or support team.
